Sun GlassFish Portfolio Release Notes
The Sun GlassFishTM Portfolio provides the foundation
to develop and deploy Web and enterprise applications. The portfolio is a
cost-effective way to acquire, manage, and maintain critical aspects of your
web platform.

About the Sun GlassFish Portfolio
The most complete application platform stack of components available
from an opensource community, the Sun GlassFish Portfolio can support smaller,
low-cost deployments as well as extensive, mission-critical deployments. The Sun GlassFish Portfolio
is an entire application platform built in open source. The components that
make up the portfolio are offered separately and also at various support levels;
you can pick the components you want as well as the type of offering.
Components
The Sun GlassFish Portfolio provides the middleware services and software
needed to deliver Web applications throughout an enterprise. The following
components are included in the Sun GlassFish Portfolio:
- Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server

Enterprise Server is the leading opensource platform for building
and deploying next-generation applications and services. More

Offerings
The Sun GlassFish Portfolio is offered in two licensing formats: per-server
or unlimited. A per-server subscription is an annual
subscription based on the number of physical or virtual servers on which the
software components of the Sun GlassFish Portfolio are deployed. An unlimited
subscription is an annual subscription based on the number of
company employees. Per-server offerings include Basic, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
The unlimited subscription is offered for Gold or Platinum.

Basic includes Sun GlassFish Enterprise
Server and Sun GlassFish Web Stack. Per-server basis.

Silver includes the Basic
components, plus Sun Web Server, Sun Web Proxy Server, and Sun Message Queue.
Per-server basis.

Gold includes the Basic
and Silver components, plus HADB. The Enterprise Manager components are also
included: Performance Advisor, Performance Monitor, and SNMP Monitoring. Per-server
basis.

Gold Unlimited includes
all Gold components, plus Sun GlassFish Web Space Server and Sun GlassFish Enterprise
Server Bus. Unlimited basis.

Platinum includes Basic
and Silver components, plus HADB. The Enterprise Manager components are also
included: Performance Advisor, Performance Monitor, and SNMP Monitoring. Also
includes account management. Per-server basis.

Platinum Unlimited includes
all Platinum components, plus Sun GlassFish Web Space Server and Sun GlassFish Enterprise

About Installation
This section addresses issues that might apply to your installation,
depending on what Sun GlassFish Portfolio components you are installing and
how your system is deployed.
Note –
The documentation that you might want to examine first for each
component includes the Release Notes (which usually
includes system requirements), the Installation Guide,
and the Getting Started Guide or the Quick
Start Guide.
Before You Install Components
Each of the Sun GlassFish Portfolio components has system requirements
that might mean the component could be incompatible with your system. For
example, your operating system might not be at the required level. Before
installing a component, it is important to review the system requirements
for the component:

or the environment you are installing the Sun GlassFish Portfolio into:
