Chapter 3 Startup and Shutdown

During installation of StarOffice 8 Server - PDF Converter several startup and shutdown scripts are installed in the directory <socs-installation-dir>/engine/bin, which allow startup and shtutdown of the StarOffice 8 Server - PDF Converter.

Running StarOffice 8 Server - PDF Converter

The StarOffice 8 Server - PDF Converter requires a Java Runtime Environment in version 1.5. Ensure that the Java Runtime Environment binary is located in the application path or set an environment variable JAVA_HOME to point to a Java Runtime Environment 1.5. To test, whether the Java Runtime Environment is present and accessible, enter java -version in a terminal.

Startup and Shutdown Scripts

• Microsoft Windows

  The startup/shutdown script is called soserv.bat.

• Linux and Solaris Operating Systems

  The startup/shutdown script is called soserv.sh.

The startup/shutdown script does understand the command line parameters start and stop to start or stop the server.
