Chapter 8 Tuning Portal Server Performance

This chapter describes the Sun Java^TM System Portal Server perftune() script.

Administrators typically run the Portal Server perftune script before performance tests or during system production.

The script does the following:

• Modifies the following desktopconfig.properties file:

  • /etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/desktopconfig.properties

• Invokes the Access Manager amtune script

• Tunes the Solaris^TM Operating System kernel and transmission control protocol (TCP) settings

• Prevents the script from tuning a system that lacks adequate memory

About the Access Manager amtune Script

The amtune script makes configuration changes in the following Portal Server components:

• Web Server

• Application Server

• Directory Server

• Access Manager
