PrefaceSolarisTM Smartcard enables a user to log in securely to the Solaris 8, Solaris 9, or Solaris 10 desktop environment. A smart card is a plastic card that allows you to access a system by inserting a programmable card into a card reader. This guide explains how to configure systems and smart cards for this form of authentication. The guide also explains how to use a smart card after Solaris Smartcard has been configured. Who Should Use This BookThe Solaris Smartcard Administration Guide is intended for the system administrator who sets up and administers the Solaris Smartcard environment. This guide assumes that you have a thorough knowledge of authentication and related network security concepts. If you are merely a user of a Solaris Smartcard, you do not need to read this book. Simply insert your smart card in your card reader and enter your personal identification number (PIN) when prompted to do so. Related BooksSolaris Smartcard can be used in conjunction with any Solaris administration tools or Solaris commands and procedures.
