VxVM / AP Interaction

8

If you use the VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) in conjunction with AP, you must perform extra steps when creating and deleting disk pathgroups.

Creating Disk Pathgroups with VxVM

After you create a disk pathgroup as described in "Creating Disk Pathgroups and Meta-Disks" on page 4-2, you must run the following command:

  # vxdctl enable

This allows VxVM to rediscover the new configuration. Be sure to run this command after you run the other required commands (in the proper order), i.e.:
  1. apdisk -c

  2. apdb -C

  3. drvconfig -i ap_dmd

  4. apconfig -R

  5. vxdctl enable

Deleting Disk Pathgroups with VxVM

The process of deleting a disk pathgroup is described in "Deleting Disk Pathgroups" on page 4-8. If you are using VxVM, however, you must instruct VxVM to stop using a meta-disk before you delete the corresponding disk pathgroup. For more information, see the VxVM documentation.
