Software Troubleshooting
4
- Generally, most software problems will manifest themselves as messages on the system console. The system console displays messages from the following sources:
-
- Operating environment (Solaris)
- Database software (Oracle)
- Cluster HA operating software
- SPARCstorage array firmware and device driver
- Network File System (NFS)
- Solstice Disksuite
- Much of the fault management in SPARCcluster HA server configurations is performed by the Solstice HA software. While the underlying SPARCcluster architecture ensures no single point of hardware failure and redundant paths to all components, failures are detected, isolated, and recovered using software.
4.1 Software Faults
4.1.1 Operating System Failures
- To determine the severity and content of operating system related error messages, refer to the Solaris documentation that came with your system. Example message:
-
node0 # Unix: Link down - cable problem?

4.1.2 Solstice HA Failures
- For a listing of error messages related to the Solstice HA software, refer to Appendix A in the SPARCcluster High Availability Software Planning and Installation Manual
4.1.3 SPARCstorage Array Failures
- For a listing of error messages specific to SPARCstorage array firmware and device drivers, refer to Appendix D in this manual.
4.1.4 Oracle Failures
- To determine the severity and content of Oracle related error messages, refer to the Oracle RDBMS documentation that came with your system.
4.1.5 NFS Failures
- To determine the severity and content of NFS related error messages, refer to the Solaris documentation that came with your system. For example, the NFS Administration Guide.
