Improve Your Search Results on docs.sun.com

Restricting the scope of your search might improve your results. Here is how to restrict results to:

  • Document titles only. Add allintitle: before the string.
    Example: allintitle:"system administration"

  • Content in a specific document. Navigate to the document, enter your search term, and click Search only this book.

Changing the syntax of your search might improve the results.

  • Search for exact phrases. Enclose the search terms in quotes.
    Example: "Installing Solaris"

  • Require specific words. Add a + character before the required words.
    Example: +how +to configure ALOM

  • Exclude specific words. Add a - character before the words to avoid.
    Example: Java -Enterprise

Search is not case sensitive, but word order does matter. For example, system file returns different results than file system.
